Queer Protest - Saturday 3 October 2015

ROLL UP, ROLL UP!

For our third instalment, LGBT Sheffield and INVERT are honoured to be teaming up with the mighty FAERGROUND ACCIDENTS to bring you a whole day and night of queer fun.

In the daytime we will be bringing you a number of documentaries focusing on the protest traditions of LGBTQ community and also talks focusing on some issues we think deserve our attention. These range from queer sex workers to LGBTQ homelessness and the continuing destructive views of the church towards our community. It's time to remember what we have got to be mad about.

In the evening FAERGROUND ACCIDENTS will be performing new material as part of a super duper visual extravaganza.

If that isn't enough we will also have special protest themed performances from our favourite queer artists and DJ sets from the adorable INVERT gang and the visually stunning Chicks with Decks.

And following our tradition we will have our Parade once again. This time you get to make your own protest sign on the evening and strut or mince down the catwalk to the cheers of the crowd.

What's your beef/seitan? What do you want to get off your chest? Karl's is with the Catholic Church so he'll be dressing up accordingly to show his disdain.

Dress up. Dress down. Most of all come and celebrate the queer community of Sheffield.

This is an inclusive no shade space and we are very firm on this, so please be nice.

£6 on the door.

SCHEDULE

As the event draws closer we will be adding further information on all elements of both the day and night. First up the daytime where we are pleased to present a programme covering a range of topics including the lesser known stories of riots before stonewall, the importance of the trans community in laying the foundations of the LGBT movement, more on Edward Carpenter, the issues faced by queer sex workers, hate crime and workplace discrimination.
